History

Tennessee Wild Child Camps were created because there is a growing number of youth whose parents do not have the knowledge or resources to provide outdoor recreation activities for their children. Introducing them to activities like boating, kayaking, fishing, hunting, and shooting sports can all be done in a day camp setting during the 5-day work week.

Outdoor recreation is a great way to get youth started early in life with a love of the outdoors and natural resources. Wild Child can provide these experiences during a week of summer activities and help parents out with an affordable alternative to day care.

This is a partnership involving the Tennessee 4-H Program, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Tennessee Wildlife Federation (TWF), Tennessee State Parks, several local school systems, as well as others local partners.

Because our target is mostly urban areas of Tennessee, this program lends itself to reaching a more non-traditional audience.
